Crete
Crete is a land of breathtaking scenery with beautiful sandy beaches and towering snow peaked mountains. A unique, cosmopolitan mix of old and new, traditional villages and modern towns. It may be an island but it is far from small. Stretching approximately 260 km from east to west, it is the largest of all the Greek islands and in fact the 5th largest in the Mediterranean.
One thing that will never go unnoticed in Crete is the friendliness of the Cretan people who have a word for it “philoxenia” which means friend of strangers.
Did you know?
The church of Panagia Kera overlooking KERA beach. It is a picturesque 19th century chapel which was built in the site of an older monastery. Legend says that when some pirates attempted to occupy the area, the residents prayed to the church of Panagia Kera. Virgin Mary listened to the prayers and petrified the boat and the pirates.
